Therapy that helps you grow, even through the messy parts.

TRAUMA THERAPY FOR CHILDREN (5+), TEENS & FAMILIES IN PACIFIC BEACH

Sometimes growth looks like breaking open before you break free. I’m here to walk beside you through the hard parts — helping you find peace, connection, and the confidence to live as yourself.

Looking for a safe place to land?

You might be here because your child is struggling with big feelings, your teen has started to shut down, or you’re an adult trying to make sense of a painful past. No matter where you are in your story, you don’t have to go through it alone.

Therapy with me is about connection, not correction.

Together, we’ll uncover the patterns that keep you stuck and build new ways of relating that feel grounded, safe, and real.

Healing Happens in the Messy Middle

A butterfly doesn’t just become beautiful overnight. Growth means changing shape, resting when needed, and trusting that transformation is happening, even when you can’t see it.

If you’ve ever felt smashed, stuck, or uncertain, there’s still a path forward.

We’ll work together so you can rediscover who you are and start living unapologetically as yourself.

FAMILY THERAPIST IN PACIFIC BEACH

My work blends compassion, curiosity, and evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, SFBT, Family Systems, and Structural Family Therapy — always adapted to your unique story.

I also integrate Trust-Based Relational Interventions (TBRI) to strengthen connection and safety within relationships.

Whether through play therapy with a child, family work with parents, or trauma processing with adults, I meet you where you are — with empathy, not judgment.

  • CBT helps you notice and shift unhelpful thought patterns that influence how you feel and act. It’s a practical, goal-oriented approach that teaches you real tools for everyday life.

  • DBT focuses on balance — learning to manage emotions, tolerate distress, and communicate more effectively, while also practicing mindfulness and self-acceptance.

  • SFBT is all about identifying your strengths and small, realistic steps toward change. It’s focused on what’s working — not just what’s hard.

  • This approach looks at how family relationships and dynamics shape the way we think, feel, and behave. Together, we explore these patterns to help everyone communicate and connect more effectively.

  • Structural work focuses on improving the “architecture” of family life — boundaries, roles, and interactions — to create healthier, more supportive relationships.

  • TBRI is a trauma-informed approach that emphasizes connection before correction. It helps caregivers and families build trust, safety, and understanding through relationships that heal.

About Dani McGuire, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

I became a therapist because I know what it’s like to feel unsupported and unseen. Now, I help children, teens, and adults heal from trauma and rediscover their strength through compassionate, authentic connection.

When I’m not in session, my faith is an important part of how I live and how I show up. I spend a lot of my time with the people and things that matter most to me, including my chosen family and my two dogs, Petey Pan and Parker, who keep me grounded and laughing. I care deeply about being of service to others and staying connected in meaningful ways. Music, nature, and a good book are some of the ways I recharge. And yes, I’m in my own therapy. I believe growth and healing are lifelong, and I don’t expect clients to do work I’m not doing myself.

Therapy isn’t just an expense — it’s a chance to invest in lasting change, healing, and the relationships that matter most.
